Partnering with future O&P leaders

Alpharetta, GA — SPS, the leading U.S. distributor of orthotic and prosthetic (O&P) products, is proud to announce two recipients of the 2026 SPS O&P Master’s Scholarship.

This scholarship is awarded to outstanding graduate students pursuing careers in the Orthotics and Prosthetics profession who demonstrate strong academic performance, leadership, and a clear commitment to improving patient care.

After reviewing many impressive applications, SPS has selected the following students as this year’s scholarship recipients:

  • Veronica Leyva Espino, California State University of Dominguez Hills
“For nearly ten years, I have volunteered with a clinic in Mexico that provides donated prosthetic care to individuals who otherwise lack access to treatment. My experiences have shaped a clear vision for how I intend to contribute to the field by combining high-quality clinical practice with sustained service to underserved populations. Rather than viewing outreach as separate from professional work, I see it as an extension of ethical clinical responsibility.”
  • Brendan Silvia, California State University Dominguez Hills
“My younger sister was diagnosed with scoliosis. I watched her endure the agony of bracing through her formative years, just to watch her curve worsen at each appointment. My experience growing up and watching my sister undergo treatment has made the field of O&P very personal to me. It shaped my commitment to making my practice patient-focused; caring for each individual as I would a family member.”

Investing in the Future of the O&P Profession

The students were chosen based on their excellent leadership skills, academic achievements, and written essay submissions. Each student will receive $2,500 to support their graduate education and professional development.

“We are proud to recognize this year’s scholarship recipients, who exemplify the commitment, compassion, and innovation that define the future of the O&P profession,” said Kevin Moore, Vice President of SPS & Service Businesses. “SPS remains dedicated to investing in the next generation of clinicians who will help advance patient care and strengthen our industry.”

SPS would like to thank all students who applied for the 2026 scholarship and congratulate this year’s recipients on their outstanding achievements.
