The Equinus Brace Adult Small/Medium

The Equinus Brace™ is an hour per day treatment for equinus deformity and related pathologies. LCD allows for this brace to be used to treat plantar fasciitis or ankle joint contracture (see "coding and documentation" PDF for details). It is the only brace on the market that extends above the knee and dorsiflexes the foot, effectively stretching the gastroc-soleus complex. The toe wedge is to be placed under the first hallux (if tolerable) to engage the windlass mechanism. We recommend a 12 week treatment, starting dorsiflexion at 0° for 4 weeks, then increase to 10° for another 4 weeks, and finally 20° for the last 4 weeks. Maintenance therapy maybe necessary (1 hour per week or as needed).
