In this episode of The O&P Check-in: an SPS Podcast, we spoke with Jim Reichmann, MBA, MPH, about the evidence surrounding amputee postoperative care.
Ossur Rigid Dressing Large
The Ossur Rigid Dressing immobilizes, protects and controls postoperative oedema in the residual limb immediately following transtibial
amputation surgery.
Immobilization and oedema control are achieved by providing a firm
dressing formed to match the volume and shape of the residual limb.
Immobilization assists in the prevention of contractures by restricting
knee flexion. Effectively constraining and matching the volume of the
residual limb will prevent an increase in oedema following surgery.
Containing the residual limb prevents discomfort, caused by bed trauma
and possible falls during early rehabilitation.
The ORD is made out of soft and pliable material and can thus be
formed to the residual limb. The dressing is then made rigid by creating a
vacuum in the internal chambers of the product.
